CAPSTONE MURAL

Ana, Zoe and I chose to make a mural together that combined important imagery to each of us that correlated to our experience as students at Southwestern College. We are all drawn to reflecting on cycles of life and dualities represented through nature. Themes from our mural include life and death, predator and prey, seasons changing, birth and mothering, new growth emerging from things that have lived and passed.  In a way our time as students is coming to an end, a small death, which will result in our emergence into new life as art therapists as we move in to the next chapter.

CAPSTONE CREATIVE INQUIRY

Each weekend during Capstone I reflected on the preceding week through response art to work with clients in an accordion sketchbook. Additionally I engaged in a workbook called "A Guide to Shadow Work” by Stephanie Kirby, where I continued to explore and integrate my shadows. In contrast, I wanted to use the shadows to illuminate the lighter parts that I was discovering within myself as a therapist as I moved through internship. This PowerPoint shares some about my internship at Serna Solutions, the images from my accordion sketchbook, and text excerpts from my weekly journaling and shadow work.
